Lanová dráha sněžka

Pec pod Sněžkou (750 m above sea level), a picturesque mountain town, is the most frequent starting point for trips to the highest Czech peak. Pec pod Sněžkou cableway in Sněžka is an ideal means of transport, especially for your trip during the summer months. The cableway will get you comfortably through the midway-station on Růžová hora (Pink Mountain, 1354 m above sea level) to Sněžka (1594 m). Within less than 30 minutes you will experience an altitude difference of more than 680 m. You can continue your trip from Sněžka on marked tourist paths leading to Luční bouda, Špindlerův Mlýn, Pec pod Sněžkou or Horní Malá Úpa.

The cableway has been constructed as a circulating two-section system with detachable double-seats. The capacity is 250 persons per hour at a speed of 2.5 m/s. The ride from Pec pod Sněžkou (890 m) station to Růžová hora (1354 m) takes 11 minutes (1560 m distance) and up to Sněžka 13.5 minutes (1967 m distance). Over 50 years of operation the contribution of the cableway to environmental protection in this area has been proven. That is why intensive preparations for construction of a new cableway are under way at present.
